Important — what “skip the line” means here. The ticket bypasses the ticket purchase queue at Hagia Sophia — up to 60 minutes saved during peak season. The mandatory security screening (bag X-ray and metal detector) is separate and applies to all visitors regardless of ticket type. In peak season this security check can take up to 60 minutes; in quieter periods, 10–20 minutes.

QR code delivery. Tickets are emailed by the operator the day before your visit (same-day bookings receive them immediately). Use the emailed ticket — not the platform voucher — at the entrance.

How the Visit Works

Visit Hagia Sophia first. Arrive at the Hagia Sophia tourist entrance (near Topkapi Palace) at opening (09:00) or within the first hour. Show your QR code, pass security, and enter the Visiting Area and Upper Gallery independently with the audio guide. The Upper Gallery contains the most significant Byzantine mosaics — the Deësis mosaic, the imperial portraits — and panoramic views down into the main nave.

Cross to the Blue Mosque (2 minutes). Walk across Sultanahmet Square to the Blue Mosque tourist entrance (south side, facing Hagia Sophia). Entry is free — no ticket needed. Dress code applies: covered shoulders and knees, headscarf for women. Pass the security check and enter with the audio guide.

Use the audio guides selectively. Both guides cover the key elements of each site. Listen to what interests you and skip sections that don’t. The Hagia Sophia guide is comprehensive — one reviewer noted it was “long” and they couldn’t listen to all of it, which is a feature if you want depth and a non-issue if you prefer browsing.

Practical Tips

Download the audio guide apps before arriving. Relying on mobile data or Wi-Fi in a crowded historic area is unreliable. Download the relevant apps and content at your hotel before the day of your visit.

Check your QR code the night before. The ticket arrives from the operator by email — not as the provider PDF. Confirm you have the correct emailed ticket before leaving your hotel.

Dress code applies at both sites. The same requirements apply at Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque: covered shoulders and knees for all, headscarf for women. Arrive already dressed to avoid queuing at clothing stands.

Basilica Cistern upgrade. If the Cistern is on your list, adding it at booking is almost always cheaper than purchasing separately and avoids a second ticket queue.
